I had heard about Widgetbucks last monday but with all products, I like to test them before I write a review on them. That way if they suck, you dont waste your time and plus by waiting a week Im able to get you facts mainly in the form of statistics. And based primarily on the stats, widgetbucks looks way better than even I had hoped for.

What is Widgetbucks?

Widgetbucks is a new ad network that features a shopping widget. Unlike networks like amazon that pay only if a person makes a purchase, widget bucks pays per click. I was overjoyed when I first heard about this cause I was looking for something to replace AuctionAds, cause AA wasnt really converting at $0.0252 per 14965 impressions. Widgetbucks claims a $3-$6 eCPM and with my impressions you can see why I was willing to spend the 5 minutes it took to sign up and place the widget code on my site.

First 3 days Stats

Screenshots removed, will be back, waiting on clarification from widgetbucks

Even though i have been using them for almost a week now I only have revenue details for Oct 2-4 cause they have about a 3 day delay in showing revenue stats, though I got 61 clicks on the 5th so Im feeling pretty happy. (Update: Those 61 clicks on the 5th made 27 bucks)

Referall Program

As you probally guessed if you looked at my links to widgetbucks, they do have a pretty good referall program. They pay you 10 percent of the commissions earned by the people you refer for 12 months after the new member joins. So if you’d like to support digitalorder feel free to use any of the of the links on this post to sign-up. Also I have to say they got some pretty odd referall ads.(see below)

Payout Details

They send out checks or paypal the first of every month for all revenue earned during the previous month, as long as you’ve earned a minimum of $50. Also right now they are adding $25 to everyone’s accounts so you get a free $25 as long as you can get the clicks for $25 more which shouldnt be hard since the widget wants to be clicked.

Mpire Press Room
This isn’t really related to the widget itself which is why its at the bottom, but I just have to say Mpire, the company responsible for Widgetbucks, has one of the best designed press areas of any corporate website Ive seen. So if you own or work for a company definently check it out and follow their example and make it easier for the media to write about your company.

If you give widgetbucks a try, please send me your experiences with the program as I’d like to see how well it does with sites that offer a better ctr than mine.

We’ve all heard the saying “less is more” and that is what this post is about. When placing ads on your site its always been a struggle to find that perfect amount of ads that would bring you the most amount of money with out driving away visitors. Heres something you should think about that may seem like a paradox but is actually true the less adsense you place on your site the more you will earn. Even though you may get less clicks with less adsens, each click will be worth more since youll be displaying the higher bid ads more often.

Now when I first heard about this I was a bit skeptical since Ive used Adwords before and its not always the higher bid that is displayed first now that they added landing page quality into the mix but I gave it a go with my hiddenpenguin proxy. Before the change I had text links above the url as well as a 160×600 sidebar of adsense that almost never got clicked, So I wouldnt be loosing much if this didnt pan out. And I am happy to say in the 24 hours Ive made the change Ive gotten about the same amount of clicks and yet Ive made more. Im going to let it run like it is currently for a week just to make sure its consistent and then try out having only one 250×250 ad.

Please share your experiences if youve tried using less ads to earn more.

As noted in this post Ive been having a few problems in getting my adwords running perfectly, and one of the things I noticed was googles keyword tool was showing even this site as not having enough text. As you can see there is plenty of text so I posted my problem on DP and GuyfromChicago was quick to inform me I probally should remove <meta name=’robots’ content=’noindex, nofollow’ /> from my code. Apparently theirs a feature in WP under privacy that blocks robots from search engines. I quickly turned it off and within the hour all my landing page qualities did change but not for the better. Almost all of my keywords dropped to poor and only a few stayed OK. (more…)

I got a $25 coupon from Godaddy for buying my hosting, and so I thought Id give arbitrage a go. I found a niche I knew alot about, set up some really good ads on the site, Wrote some Ad copy that would lead to really good conversions and let it go. I was initially happy since most of my keywords were under .05 but after an hour of running the ads, my quality dropped to OK/poor making the lowest cpc .10,

Now I know plenty of people who would be happy to pay .10 for a click but my site wasnt built to be MFA, In fact I keep it updated daily with relevant articles and my site design is very user friendly, with the ads placed in the footer and sidebar of the site since it was initially designed to get repeat visitors, But I guess in order to get google to think your landing page is great you have to do a little more work than I thought.

So I will be doing the following to try and increase my Quality, Ill post later if it worked.

Write more articles about topics already covered on the site

Get links with my keywords as the text

Write more ad copy

Make each ad copy cover a specific keyword and variation

If you have any tips to increase Quality please leave a comment.
