Blogging

Its not treason to corroborate with your competition!

If you have read any blogs you notice alot of the links to other blogs are to sites that promote almost or even the exact same information. In normal business a company like Ford Motor Co. would never say to their customers,”hey go check out Nissan they got an awesome new truck line!” Its just not done. But thats old business and not blogging. Bloggers dont need to compete for readers because one reader can visit and subscribe to as many blogs as they want.

Now that you know its not going to hurt your blog to link to others, lets go into the why you should link consistently to alot of different blogs.

1.If the linked site is good, you get credit for the find and if it has trackbacks you get technorati athourity

2. It increases traffic i.e. trackbacks/link exchanges bring their users to your site

3. It gets you good content i.e. Guest posts

4. Getting into the Top Commentors for a certain popular blog brings myself quite a bit of traffic
For the How portion of this post Im going to kill two with one stone, Im going to get some trackbacks by linking to the blogs and Im giving you the reader access to an abundance of useful info.  So for your link love dont just list some links with no serious content, write at least an intro.  This is not only good for SEO but it gives the post more substance as well.

Link Love Example/Link Love How-To

1.What are Trackbacks and How do I do them?

2.Comment on as many sites as you can(but spamming isnt good for a real blog)

3.Do featured articles and spread the link love

4.Create awesome linkbait

5. Do a guest post on another Blog everynow and then.

6. Do Link and Review Exchanges

Alot of the tips/tricks I and all the bloggers I’ve linked to, are done more efficiently if you’re friends with a few bloggers so dont be an island. Interact and work with other bloggers.  Dont be shy, whats the worse that could happen by emailing a fellow blogger.  I know If you email me a question or joint project the worse thing I’m going to do is reply with a few paragraphs of criticism before I agree to what ever it is you ask.

  1. Competition is a good thing. Keeps you on your toes. I like to think of it as making friends in the blogosphere.

  2. Good article. Having started a business blog recently, I’ve been wondering about what content is really worth posting - without shooting yourself in the foot.

This article, combined with some other advice I’ve had, has been very helpful.

  3. […] If you get to know other people working online it makes things alot easier. As I posted before collaborating with people in your area of expertise is not treason and will in fact benefit both parties involved. The […]
